Jami Wilson

PT, DPT

I began my career in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy in 2012 after graduating from the University of Nebraska Medical Center with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. I have always loved helping patients relieve their pain and achieve their goals. There were a few patients though that something was missing and I found that the missing piece was addressing their pelvic floor dysfunction.

I dove head first into continuing education courses and learning more about pelvic floor disorders and dysfunction and haven’t looked back since. It has truly become my passion. I am passionate about empowering my patients by teaching them about the bodies they live in. Every week, a patient will tell me “why has nobody ever told me this” or “I wish someone told me...” Knowledge is power and I want all my patients to have the keys and feel empowered to care for their bodies throughout their lifetime.

I combine my orthopedic and pelvic health skills to take a whole body approach when treating patients. I focus on patient education along with manual techniques and individualized exercise programs to help patients achieve their goals.

I am happily married to my husband, Kevin, and together we have a son, Jack, a daughter, Emma, and a golden retriever, Buddy. My time outside the clinic is spent with family and friends, exercising and traveling when we have the chance (and when we can again!).

Jami received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from UNMC in 2012. Jami is a Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist. She is certified in trigger point Dry Needling through Myopain Seminars. Jami has been trained in pelvic floor physical therapy through the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. She also has been certified in STOTT PILATES® on the reformer.

Stefanie Urbom

PT, DPT, CLT-LANA

Before pelvic floor physical therapy became my professional passion, I, like many others, thought it was common for women to make comments such as:

“Everyone leaks a little when they sneeze.”
“I can’t jump on the trampoline or I will pee my pants.”
“It’s normal to have painful sex after you have babies. It will get better.”
“Painful periods are normal, that’s why God didn’t make men child-bearing."
And, my personal favorite, “I laughed so hard the tears ran down my leg.”

All of these comments, while sometimes comforting for the uncomfortable situation, are absolutely NOT true!

After I graduated into the wonderful world of motherhood, I became more frustrated with the unsolicited and often harmful information I was given regarding my body, my healing process, and the importance of rehabilitating my core and pelvic floor after each pregnancy. As a practicing physical therapist and self-proclaimed nerd, I needed to know what I could do to help my body. Empowered with the knowledge that these “norms”, no matter how common, do not have to be our new normal. It became my mission to dispel these myths and now empower my patients with the knowledge and skills to take control of their bodies.

I began taking continuing education classes to further my hands-on skill set. I also read as much as I could find on the pelvic floor, the core, pregnancy, childbirth, breast-feeding, pelvic pain, and pain with intercourse. As my pelvic floor therapy practice grew, what I also began to notice was that allowing my patients to share each of their unique stories, in their own words and in their own time, had just as much impact on their healing as being armed with the medical knowledge to take control of their bodies.

The greatest gift I have been given as a clinician is my ability to deeply connect with my patients. It is also the part of my practice that brings me the greatest joy. I want every patient to have a safe space to tell their story - sometimes that means speaking hard truths. I welcome every patient with open arms. I believe firmly that each and every one of us has the capacity to begin our own healing journey. Whenever someone is ready to take that first step, I am here to help you navigate the murky waters of misinformation and half-truths that we have been told about our bodies.

I provide practical, actionable, and effective treatment options for all of my patients in a warm and welcoming environment. There is no shame, there is no blame, and our focus during each treatment session is on the connection between “the breath” and restoring the pelvic floor. With permission of course, just a few of the healing journeys that I have been blessed to be on:

Guiding a patient to pain-free intercourse with her spouse - then they got pregnant for the first time!!

Helping turn a retiree’s fear of frequent bathroom trips ruining road trips into a conversation starter with her astounded friends after passing multiple restroom stops!!

Supporting a patient in her decision to avoid costly and ultimately unnecessary surgical intervention by eliminating her abdominal pain by teaching her how to manage her symptoms caused by abdominal adhesions and abdominal separation that were a direct result of pregnancy and cesarean deliveries!!

Stefanie Urbom received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Stefanie was trained in the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute and in the treatment of breast cancer rehabilitation and lymphedema therapy through Klose Training and Consulting. She has received additional training in manual therapy treatment techniques from Great Lakes Seminars. She earned her certification as a LANA-Certified Lymphedema Therapist through the Lymphology Association of North America and became a Certified Cancer Exercise Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine. In addition to her work as a Physical Therapist, Stefanie married the love of her life, Jon, in 2010 and together they have three beautiful sons, Henry, Theo, and Jack. She loves spending time with her family, connecting with friends, Yin Yoga, weight lifting, and exploring the outdoors with her brood.
